July 1, 1890 soon after the completion of the bridge that become the central portion of today’s Main Street

This bridge spanned the narrowest part of Skwácháy̓s [False Creek East] where it was connected to the rest of False Creek and then to the Salish Sea. This image is looking north from what is today the McDonald’s on Main south of Terminal Avenue.

The plank road to the right of the image (to the east) is today’s Gore Street.
